General Advice on Spot and Stain Removal

Firstly, don’t panic and act quickly as the removal of fresh spots is always easier than working on old stains.
Next, decide whether you can tackle the removal yourself . In the case of large or old, set-in stains, contact a WoolSafe approved company such as ourselves so that advanced stain removal techniques are used to avoid making the stain permanent.
Remove as much of the soil/stain as possible before applying a WoolSafe Approved spot remover, pre-testing it on an inconspicuous area of the carpet.
Always apply the spotting agent indirectly via a cloth and not directly onto the stain. Don’t forget to wear rubber gloves.
Washing up liquid or other cleaning agents should be avoided as they will leave sticky residues and cause rapid soiling.
Only use a small quantity of spot remover at a time and repeat if necessary. Two or three light applications can be more effective than one heavy application. Don’t over wet the carpet and to avoid spreading it always work from the edge of the stain towards the middle. Always blot and never rub.
When using solvents, ensure good ventilation and
thoroughly rinse water-based spotters with clean water.
